I, as of late, am known as the Metal Matron -- a headbanger who has a surplus of opinions and a profound love of (almost) all things heavy metal. I'm often just listening to it, but usually toss up a rant online (some can be found on my Tumblr or the Headbanger's Sanctuary forums), along with the occasional album/show review. All of this is for sheer fun! All posts on those sites or this blog are for nothing but fun and self-gratification, as I do not often get a chance to voice my opinions/views on metal (which dominate much of my talking points for conversation) because of who I do/do not know and the quiet little neighborhood I live in. A blog is the perfect place for expression. All that is posted here is for me; if it entertains others, that's just a joyful bonus.
The most logical thing to do with my first post is to welcome primarily myself and get myself situated, as I highly doubt this post will be read by many others. All opinions that will be expressed in this blog from here on out will be mine and only mine unless I state otherwise via cited quotes. Most posts, as previously stated, will have a subject matter of (but is not limited to) metal. This is a blanket term, which therefore includes:
-Entire bands
-Individual/solo artists
-World-famous artists
-Underground artists
-Artists you think are good
-Artists you think are bad
-Specific albums/eras of a particular band
-Music videos
-Record companies (*none of which I am associated with besides being a fan*)
-Anything else related to metal you can think of not previously mentioned
A few disclaimers/cautions about this blog:
1. Most obviously, you will not agree with everything I may post.
This should go without saying, but I will post here, on my blog, what soever I please. It may be a band you don't like, an artist you don't like, an opinion you don't agree with, etc., you will not and should not expect to agree with everything you read. That's what makes us individuals!
2. Blog posts will be posted once a week.
Aye, that's my goal! To make a new post at least once a week. I may come up with other ideas for posts, or I may have a general weekly post along with a random album review or show review whenever I want, but there will, most likely, be one post every week. The topic could range, but will most likely be metal-related. Although, I've already begun thinking up ideas of little, intermittent "segments" that may come with time.
3. As with on Twitter, I post lots of music!
My tastes generally remain within the metal genre. It may be a genre I like, or a genre I am not particularly fond of. Please refer back to disclaimer number one for posts relating to this subject. Though, I can assure readers that many posts will include the following genre and any further sub-genres associated with them:
-Death metal
-Black metal
-Folk metal
-Thrash metal
-Power metal
4. I am not silly -- I do my research!
Quite frankly, I enjoy doing research! I have a ton of information stowed away in my memory and have spent countless hours reading about some of my favorite bands. I often have a general understanding of the background of a band I post about, be it on Twitter, Tumblr, or now here, and I do like to sometimes pride myself on knowing quite a bit about my favorite genres/artists. Do not mistake this for cockiness. I do not know everything! And I never claimed to. Enjoy my opinions and my knowledge to the extent I portray at any given time.
5. Unless I say otherwise, and chances of that are low, I am not directly associated with any of the bands/artists/companies included in my posts.
I may advertise a band or throw out the name of a band I enjoy, it's bound to happen, and quite often, but, unless I specifically state within the accompanying post, I have no direct association with any of the bands/artists/companies/etc to follow. I am a fan. This is not my job. I am not asked to advertise bands. I provide music I enjoy so that others may enjoy it as well. I do not know these people. I am only a fan.
Besides all that, it'll generally be pretty simple. My opinions, my views, my research, my tastes. Your comments/criticism is, of course, always welcome, and my goals here are not to change anyone's preexisting views but to instead voice my own in a clear-cut fashion. Don't get me wrong, I'm a particularly pleasant person, but I feel strongly about certain things, so I won't change yours, and you won't change mine!
Instead of trying, just enjoy the ride.
